The product team has been busy over the last few months preparing the latest release of Hectic. The Spring 22 version of Hectic brought key improvements around navigation, information architecture, visibility into the health of your freelance business, and a focus on the work to be done.
If you have 20 minutes to spare and you want to hear what Darryl has to say about the update, check out this video - otherwise, you can read below for the highlights.
The left bar has been re-designed to organize information more logically and surface the most important feature (your clients) more prominently for easy access.
Homebase is a new collection of features to help you stay focused on the work that needs to be done as well as providing valuable insights into the health of your business.
Focus surfaces the most important information allowing you to see and prioritize the most important things to get done during your day.
Calendar is the same great consolidated view of your freelance business with a focus on important dates and events. Use the filter to focus on the task at hand - or see everything in one place, including your Google/Apple calendar, time worked, scheduled meetings, payments, and important project and deliverable dates and timelines. Month, two-week, week, day, and schedule views to see as much or as little information as you need.
Insights provides an interactive view into where your money is coming from and how you are spending your time. Filter, slice and dice the data, and click on your overviews to drill into the data that makes up your metrics.
We have consolidated all of the project features under the projects link, allowing you to see all of your projects, overviews, and deliverables in a single part of the application.
Level up your client relationships with a client portal. You can now set custom feature access rules on a per-client basis. If you have certain clients that you don't want seeing certain features such as time tracking or projects - you can now set special rules for each of your clients.
We have added a comprehensive help center. When you click the (?) icon in the lower right corner of the app, you will see a contextual help center which will include how-to videos, links to the most popular articles about the feature you need help with, as well as links to search the knowledge base and chat with the Hectic team if you still have questions.
Along with our suite of accounting features, you can now update your tax label from the defaults provided. This label is used on invoices and proposals when tax is used on your account. Update your documents to properly reflect your local regulations and laws. Set the value to VAT, ISV, GST, Tax, etc.
Meeting schedulers can now be assigned to users within your account. This feature works for both Pro and Teams workspaces with full users as well as collaborators. By assigning ownership of a meeting scheduler to a user, you will limit the scope of people who are notified and have visibility into the scheduled meetings. Meeting schedulers can have no ownership, which would allow any scheduled meetings to be viewed by all full users in the work space. Collaborators can ONLY see their own meetings and will never have visibility into other / public meetings.
To set the scheduler ownership, simply select the appropriate user from the dropdown and the notifications and visibility will be adjusted for all future meetings.
If your cover image doesn't require heading text to be present, you can now choose to hide the cover text, but still retain the proposal heading for ease of use while navigating your proposal lists. See more of what Hectic can do with quotes, proposals, and contracts here.
